Coaching Ask Better Questions Become a Better Coach (Audible Audio Edition) Ian Berry Forris Day Jr Ivan Buric Books Reviews
If you want to improve your coaching skill or want to learn some good things about coaching then this guidebook will teach you how to become a better coach. I am pretty sure here you will get all the things like essential guides, good ideas, effective techniques, right ways, helpful lessons and many more things.
The author Ian has presented & described all the things very clearly with easy to understand language so I didn’t face any problem to understand all these things. This read not only helped me to improve my knowledge but also showed me how easily I can make myself as a professional coach. I am so impressed by reading this book and definitely I will recommend it to all interested readers. Excellent work Ian and it’s really appreciated.
Main reason for one star is that the book does not live up to its title. No where in the book does it actually deal with asking better questions. It seems to be a very basic book on the elements of coaching from the author's perspective - and much of his perspectives seem to be at odds with what I know and have learned about coaching. For example, the author writes that "you [coach] might find yourself taking on the role of counselor from time to time." As a coach, I would never put myself in that role. For one thing, I don't feel qualified to be a counselor, and secondly, that could be very confusing to the client. The author also writes that "Coaching is always given on a short-term basis," but seems to confuse the point noting that the coach "will work with the coachee . . . for as long as it is necessary," but then somewhat contradicts that with "in general, coaching does not involve more than a couple of sessions." Which is it? As long as necessary or only a couple of sessions? In my experience it can take at least a couple sessions to establish the trust necessary for a productive coaching relationship and to clearly establish the client's agenda.
This book was not worth the money spent or the time to listen/read.
concise and easily read.
This book has a lot of helpful tips. I did lean a lot towards coaching for business professionals. Overall good read.
This coaching book will help you become a coach. It has various advice over different areas of life for coaching, but didn't give too much information about each. I'm glad it included Myths of what people think of coaching as. Great content, it will be highly enjoyed if looking to become a coach.
Coaching technique is something that I feel that I have been lacking in my career. My followers do not seem to be motivated well enough and I think that there must be something missing in the way I conduct myself and guide others. After reading the book, I gained some valuable insights and tried applying one of the methods. I am glad to share that it did help my team. I am looking forward to apply more of the techniques shared in the book. Overall, this book content is coherent and well put together for practical application.
