Winter Donovan loves two things her sister and her sister's ex boyfriend. She's spent her whole life doing the right thing except that one time, that night when Finn O'Malley looked hollowed out by his father's death. Then she did something very wrong that felt terribly right.
Finn can't stop thinking about Winter and the night and he'll do anything to make her a permanent part of his life, even if it means separating Winter from the only family she has.
Their love was supposed to be unrequited but one grief stricken guy and one girl with too big of a heart results in disastrous consequences.

I had to go back and check that I'd read some of this author's previous work (which I had). I really intensely disliked the writing style of this book and some of the characters, one being the h. I didn't remember the previous books being so filled with explicit sex. My take on that is well documented so I'm not going to get into it, except for saying that there should be more story. The lower star reviewers hinted at the problem that the h kept taking her dysfunctional, sleaze bag of a sister's part even when she knew that the sister was trying to break her and the H up - I expected it but didn't enjoy how it was resolved. It's a typical NA drama filled but tacky solution. The H was portrayed really well and in him, I saw glimmers of what I liked so much about the author's writing in the first 2 books (I gave both 4 stars). Anyway if you're into this series then you may want to read this. If you haven't read the others then I'd recommend skipping this one.Product details

Unrequited A Novel The Woodlands Book 4 edition by Jen Frederick Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
I've read all of Jen Frederick's work and I absolutely love the Woodlands series and look forward to all of the roommates receiving their stories. Her books are sexy, funny, and easy reads. Winter is in love with Finn, her sister's ex-boyfriend, and has been for almost ten years. It feels like Finn, while not in love with Winter, definitely had feelings for her and regretted losing touch when he and Ivy broke up. This all changes when a chance meeting in a diner late at night brings these two together. Grade B-
***Beware spoilers, sorry!!!***
I'm pretty sure this book takes place congruently with Unraveled (Sam and Gray's story), but there were small details that contradicted this assumption, like Finn mentions that Noah and Bo's Marine buddy is staying there, but there is no mention of Sam (this happens more than once). However, sometime later, Tucker tells Winter that he loved his dead brother's widow but she up and ran away with a Marine after 10 seconds of knowing him. I THINK Finn mentions Gray again after this and perhaps it's not expressly stated in this text and I'm reading way too much into it and it only bothers me and isn't a big deal.
Ivy...Ivy...Ivy. She's the antagonist in this story and she's annoying and you hate her but at the same time I really want her to get her own novella to redeem herself. As the sister of a recovering addict, I understand how hard it is to let them fail and trust they won't relapse, but Winter was a straight doormat where her sister was concerned.
I feel like more could have been done with Finn and his family situation - so much time was spent on Winter and Ivy and how tough they have it right now, that I feel the conflict between Finn and his uncle and mother was glossed over. This book was long enough to accommodate both situations.
The sex was hot, hot, hawt! These two do it all over the place and pretty much every time they're alone for more than 10 seconds.
I am sure Adam's story is next, but I really need Mal's book. In all of the previous Woodlands books, he's barely mentioned in passing and that ups his enigma quotient exponentially! I really need to know his story!
Absolutely loved Finn and winter! Finn is total swoon worthy and winter is an awesome heroine who can stand her own. This book did has some drama is winter's sister ivy who tried to create some problems but true love conquers all and it ended with a happily ever after! Hope there is more to this series.
I loved everything about this book. The well written H and h characters, the hurdle of the alcoholic sister and the fight for their HEA. Finn was real, I liked everything about him. I have always like this authors heros. A complex story with so many real family and relationship emotions.
I really enjoyed this book. The dynamics between Winter and Finn are great but I really didn't like Ivy all that much. She was manipulative and selfish and I felt Winter was too lenient with her. Winter seemed to enable Ivy, but while that annoyed me, it made for a great story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance books.
I love Jen Frederick! Her books are easy to read with a flow that carries you through her stories quickly. They are well thought out with interesting likable characters that you actually want to read about. Her heroes - good men that you want to see succeed. Her heroines - smart capable women. I eagerly anticipate all her books and encourage new fans to read her books...now!
I'm a huge fan of J Frederick, but this one was hard to get through... enough errors in the first few pages that I nearly put it down- not something I'm used to in her books. Storyline was good and characters stayed true when brought from previous stories, but some of it was choppy and halting. Not my favorite in this arc, but worth it for anyone interested in the series.
Also, this is labeled as #5 in the series, but #4 on .
I'm loving this series! Finn's book was at the top of my TBR list and I've got to say that I wasn't disappointed! I really loved his character, I worried about him in other books so it was nice to actually get to see Finn. Winter has probably been one of my favorite girls of this series as well, it was very to relate to her. The struggle and the guilt she felt, all a product of some really great in depth writing!
Can't wait for Adam's book!
